Analysis and documentation of societal development
The Institute of History (IFG) is engaged in analyzing and documenting societal developments, in particular technological change, the global circulation of knowledge, migration, and economic dynamics in the 19th and 20th centuries. In doing so, it investigates interrelationships that have determined the evolution of technological and natural scientific knowledge.
The IFG comprises the following professorships:

The Archives of Contemporary History (Dr. Gregor Spuhler) are also part of the IFG.
