GESS Library
As a special library of the department it offers the same services as the main ETH Zurich library.
The GESS Library provides scientists from the GESS Department and the interested public with information from the humanities, social and political sciences. It holds freely accessible documents and runs multiple journal titles. These and many other printed and electronic documents, such as e-journals, e-books or databases, are available on external page ETH Library @ swisscovery. The ETH Library’s website provides extensive information on topics such as searching and using the library, researching and publishing, archiving and digitising and the different locations and media types. Or why not attend one of the many courses and workshops on information search, literature management or scientific writing, for instance?
To enable you to make the most of this extensive service, we would be delighted to give you a brief tour (approx. 30 mins). Please arrange an appointment with us:
As members of the GESS Department, you also benefit from added extras:
Extra-long loan periods for GESS books (180 days)
Free interlibrary loans from Switzerland and abroad
Free delivery of copies from journals and books from ETH Zurich’s libraries
We will update your user data for these services upon presentation of your ETH-Zurich card.
Please send any new acquisition requests directly to GESS Library (), copying in (Cc) your supervising professor. The newly procured publication will be reserved for you and you will receive an invitation to collect it via e-mail or text message.
