WIDE Working Group
We care about and work on Well-Being, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at the D-GESS Department. Our aim is to make sure that everybody at the department feels safe, integrated and free to focus on research. We also want to make our department more equitable and more diverse.

Some people live their entire lives in confidence. They never experience exclusion, disrespect, harassment or violence, based on their identity. They do not have to explain their looks, their way of speaking, their religion, partners, families or any other aspect of their lives. They feel respected and respect others.
At D-GESS, we claim this way of living and working for everybody at the Department.
We want to be a diverse and inclusive scientific community. We encourage responsible leadership and listen openly to different viewpoints, opinions, thoughts, and ideas. We strive to embrace a culture of respect and inclusion, where we value one another. By this, we aim at making D-GESS a space where people feel emotionally, physically and intellectually safe and where difficulties can be openly addressed and acknowledged.
The Department will not tolerate any form of discrimination or bullying. In case you experience any incorrect behavior, or if you are not sure whether something constitutes incorrect behavior, please contact the D-GESS Help!Point.
This semester's focus topic is Working Conditions──

The Student Critical Thinking Initiative:
The broad idea of the project is to build a student movement united behind the desire to bring different perspectives to ETH curriculum, and to reform the university such that it more adequately prepares its graduates for the global challenges they will need to face. We want to unite students from many different faculties and discuss together on how ETH could start a wide discussion about critical thinking in research and education and incorporate a more diverse set of perspectives and worldviews. This could include alternatives to neo-classical economics, the ethics of animal testing, critically looking at the societal impacts of artificial intelligence, climate justice… If you are interested in taking part in the project, or to get updates on what we are doing, please join our Telegram group chat: external pagehttps://t.me/joinchat/L2j53u97c8cwZGI8call_made
