Srinita Majumdar

Research area

Srinita is a doctoral student at the Professorship for History of the Modern World at ETH Zurich, where she has been affiliated since March 2025. Her research explores the history of playgrounds in colonial Indian cities—Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras—between 1900 and 1950. She examines how playgrounds emerged as hybrid spaces shaped by local negotiations and global circulations of knowledge, with attention to both their discursive constructions and material realities. Her work is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Before joining ETH Zurich, Srinita completed her undergraduate, master's, and MPhil degrees in History at the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University in India.
