Additional information
Giorgio Malet is a senior resercher at the European Politics Research Group and an SNSF Ambizione Fellow. He completed his doctorate at the European University Institute with a thesis on the political consequences of mass Euroscepticism. During his PhD, he held visiting positions at the University of California, Berkeley and at the London School of Economics. Before joining the ETH, he was a postodoctoral researcher at the University of Zurich.
Giorgio's research focuses on public opinion and democratic representation in multilevel systems, with a special focus on the domestic politics of European integration. At the crossroad of European politics and EU politics, he studies how voters form their political preferences in an interdependent world, and how party elites both respond to and shape these preferences. In his current project, financed by an SNSF Ambizione Grant, he investigates how the policies produced by the European Union affect whether people support a political authority beyond the nation state. His research has been published, among others, in Comparative Political Studies, the European Journal of Political Research, and the Journal of European Public Policy.
