Javier Argota Sánchez-Vaquerizo is an architect and urban scientist whose work bridges design, computation and policy-making. At ETH Zürich's Professorship of Computational Social Science, where he just finished his doctorate, he researches on urban digital twins funded by the European Research Council and collaborates with Singapore's Future Cities Laboratory. His work explores how emerging technologies and data-driven approaches can transform urban decision-making, making cities more inclusive and sustainable by combining human and computational intelligence to navigate urban complexity. Educated at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM) and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, he completed his M.Sc. in Computational Design and researched at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh as a Fulbright Scholar. A recipient of the CSIC’s Archimedes Prize, his architectural and research work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale and published in top-tier journals, demonstrating the potential of technology to enhance both urban planning practice and public participation for better cities.
